“Let there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong. And it is they who will be successful.”
— Surah Aal-e-Imran (3:104)
Introduction
AlHijrah Islamic Higher Secondary School (Girls) and Secondary Schools (Boys) are, operating under AlHijrah Islamic Education and Welfare Society (a non-profit entity, being run by a board of Executive Members), imparting quality education to all segments of the society, including children of the most marginalized families who, otherwise cannot afford schooling, of this level, for their loved ones. The Alhijrah school is dedicated to fostering an environment where knowledge and faith go hand in hand, preparing students for a bright future.
History
Alhijrah School first became functional in 1994. It was a humble beginning in a small, rented house with an ambitious agenda of providing affordable quality education to all and free to the needy. Alhamdulillah! Presently, Alhijrah Islamic Welfare Society is maintaining three campuses in its own buildings. First two campuses are located in Gujar Khan City. While the third campus is in the suburbs of Gujar Khan. These are:
- Alhijrah School Girls Campus (Pre Nursery to Intermediate Level with F.Sc. Pre Medical/ Pre Engineering/ICS) housing around 1800 students.
- Alhijrah School Boys Campus (Class V to Matric/SSC Level) housing around 300 students with a growing capacity.
- Alhijrah School Sandal Branch located in village Sandal (Pre Nursery to Middle Level) presently having almost 125 students on roll but easily can accommodate upto 500 students. This school has been handed over to Alhijrah Welfare Society by Sandal Welfare Society on 01-04-2021.
Islamic Education
The curriculum of Alhijrah School includes Islamic Education, ultimate focus of which is development of mind, body and soul. Balanced growth of moral values, knowledge and wisdom in the students is the core aim of Alhijrah Schools. This institution is also imparting quality education in the field of Science and Technology by teaching Maths, Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Computer Science at secondary and higher secondary levels.
Free education of Hifz-o-Nazra is being provided to all students (presently about 100). Special focus is given to the Arabic grammar for which regular teacher workshops are being conducted with the cooperation of the Character Education Foundation, Islamabad. Currently we are having about 95 students in our Hifz-o-Nazra Program.
Free Education
Alhijrah Islamic Education and Welfare Society extends free education facilities to orphans and the children of below poverty segment of the society. Presently around 35% students of Alhijrah Schools are getting free education facilities, a few of which are also given books, stationery items and uniform, etc. free of cost. The society endeavors to gradually raise this percentage to 50% depending upon the availability of resources.
Computer & Science Labs
Education is exploring the unknown, discovering new ideas and communication with the world around. Alhijrah Schools have built state of the art science and computer laboratories, for continuous unfolding of students’ potentials, enabling them to search for the truth and quest for exploring new horizons. This will surely equip them with the latest techniques of working upto the optimum level and communicating effectively with the rest of the world. Alhijrah Islamic Society wishes to provide basic computer operating knowledge to all of its students at SSC and HSSC level, besides in depth education of information technology to the disciples (students) of Computer Science.
Scholarships
In Islam, acquiring knowledge is no less than worshipping. In order to encourage our disciples (students), most of which belong to poor and lower middle class, who otherwise are hardly interested in acquiring higher education; Alhijrah Islamic Welfare Society extends financial support for its brilliant students in terms of scholarships. These scholarships are even offered to passing out F.Sc. students who excel in their HSSC Results, so that they may get enrolled in some of the well-reputed professional disciplines.
Happy Vibes
Alhijrah Islamic Welfare Society is cognizant of the fact that development of a healthy mind needs healthy environment around. The Society translated its vision into constructing buildings for Alhijrah Schools/Campuses. Accordingly, these schools are housed in properly built ‘meant for schools’ buildings having spacious and airy classrooms, halls, labs, libraries, cafeteria, clean drinking water, installed electric water chillers/dispensers, hygienic toilets, wide playgrounds, beautiful trees, plants, flowers, swings and lush green surroundings.
Every year in the Spring season, a Flower Exhibition is arranged which is visited by the parents and local public. Alhijrah School is also having Plants Nursery to teach and encourage both our students and their parents to understand the importance of plantation, especially in light of the growing challenges of climate change in Pakistan. Moreover, in order to bring efficiency and hassle-free environment, the society has installed computerized educational and accounting systems in Alhijrah Schools.
Going Above and Beyond
One of the most unique incentive offered by Alhijrah Society is for its top position holder students at HSSC level. According to this, if any of the top position holder student gets admission in any of the Government Medical College for MBBS or Engineering University for BS Engineering/Equivalent Course and belongs to a family who otherwise could not afford to pay her educational expenses, then the Society will bear all the fees and dues till completion of that particular degree. This surely is a unique support for poor but talented students, that the Society is providing beyond its own school/college premises.
Achievements
Alhijrah Islamic School was started in 1994 in a rented building with just 54 students. Alhamdulillah we now have about 1800 students on role.
Alhijrah society has purchased 18 kanals of land which is entirely under obligation to public donations, mainly from residents of UK, on which girl’s campus has been built strictly according to government standard. Another piece of land measuring 2.5 kanals has been purchased for boy’s campus which is not yet been completed due to insufficient funds.
Each year, we proudly sponsor more than 750 students annually—covering tuition, uniforms, books, and even free trips, completely free of cost. For over a decade, our school and college have consistently ranked among the top performers in city-wide Matric and Intermediate results, a testament to our commitment to academic and spiritual excellence.
Our Alumni including doctors, engineers and professionals are serving the country and abroad in different fields of life.
Future Plans
With the grace of Allah, Alhijrah Islamic Higher Secondary School is growing in its mission to empower and educate. Our future plans include:
- Upgrading to a full-fledged Girls’ University to provide higher education rooted in both academic excellence and Islamic values.
- Expanding Hifz and Nazra programs with advanced Tajweed, Tarjama-tul-Quran and Tafseer options.
- Introducing modern skill-building courses to empower students for practical and professional life.
- Creating a purpose-built Mosque (Masjid) on campus to strengthen students’ spiritual development and provide a dedicated space for worship and learning.
Call to Action
Donate for the Noble Cause of Education
